The missing pin is typically on Row 2, position 4 or 5. Do not attempt to plug anything into the missing hole.

To rule out a broken case button, unplug the PWR_SW cable. Gently touch a metal screwdriver tip to both Pin 6 and Pin 8 simultaneously for one second. If the system fans spin up, your motherboard works perfectly, and either your case button is broken or the wire was connected incorrectly. Find Pin 7 and Pin 9 (Row 2, positions 3 and 5)
To rule out a broken case button, unplug the Power SW cable. Take a flathead screwdriver and carefully touch both Pin 6 and Pin 8 at the same time for one second. If the fans spin up and the system boots, your motherboard is working fine, but your case's physical power button or cable is broken.
If the computer runs but the power or storage lights remain dark, shut down the system and unplug the power cord. Unplug the PLED or HDD LED connector, rotate it 180 degrees, and plug it back in to correct the positive/negative alignment. Continuous Beeping or Instant Shutdowns
